The material is obtained from the liquid that circulates over the so-called lactiferous vessels various species have, but only “Hevea Brasiliensis” from the Amazon region is used commercially. Rubber has a number of properties that make it ideal to be used in joints: its high adhesiveness to fabric and metal, its electrical insulation capability and its excellent mechanical properties of traction, flexion and compression make it ideal for use in shock absorbers, for instance.
